Oklahoma women's golf carries a 34-1-1 record and the nation's second-best scoring average into The Fin, the team's final fall tournament, which tees off Monday, Oct. 19, in Fairfield, Texas, according to OU.
The Sooners have won three team titles this fall, the best start to a season in program history. A fourth victory at Freestone Lake & Golf Club would set a new program record for team tournament wins in a single season, according to OU athletics.
Head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell's squad owns an 8-1 mark against top-50 opponents and the country's second-best winning percentage. The 54-hole event runs through Wednesday, Oct. 21, with 18 holes played each day starting at 9:30 a.m. CT.
Oklahoma's lineup is unchanged from its last two wins: Meg Tilma, Audrey Rischer, Anna Kate Nichols, Satonkan Thiengsri and Nancy Cox. Valentina Guertin will compete unattached.
Thiengsri, a sophomore from Chiang Mai, Thailand, has posted the Sooners' strongest individual results this fall. She won her first collegiate individual title at the OU Intercollegiate Oct. 6 at Wichita Country Club, carding rounds of 72-66-67 to finish at 8-under par.
She beat Missouri's Addie Dobson by one stroke. That performance, combined with a 3-0 record at the NB3 Matchplay event Sept. 29-30, earned her SEC Golfer of the Week honors.
Tilma earned co-medalist honors at the season-opening Bruzzy and also earned SEC Golfer of the Week. Ryan Donaldson picked up SEC Freshman of the Week after the Schooner Fall Classic. The three consecutive SEC weekly honors were a first in program history.
"Our team showed a lot of fight, and I'm so proud of their response and their ability to find ways to win," Drouin-Luttrell said after the OU Intercollegiate victory Oct. 6.
The nine-team field at The Fin includes No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 19 Mississippi State (the host), No. 22 Arkansas, LSU, Houston, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.
Through three stroke-play events this fall, Oklahoma posted a 274.44 scoring average over nine rounds, second in the nation, according to @OU_WGolf on X. The OU Intercollegiate win was the program's 55th team title and 16th under Drouin-Luttrell, who is in her 18th year leading the program.
