Oklahoma volleyball closed an unbeaten opening weekend Aug. 29, sweeping Louisiana 3-0 at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.

Transfer Alaleh Tolliver led the Sooners with a match-high 14 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. The set scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 27-25, improving Oklahoma to 2-0 on the season.

Tolliver, who posted 382 kills at Butler last season, added seven digs against the Ragin' Cajuns. Alyssa Flack chipped in 11 kills on a .304 clip with three blocks, and sophomore setter Avaya Maga distributed 32 assists while adding six digs and two blocks.

The Sooners hit .307 as a team, finishing with 42 kills, 39 assists, 36 digs and eight service aces, according to Sooner Sports. Oklahoma held Louisiana to a .188 hitting percentage and 29 kills.

Third-set rally

The first two sets went Oklahoma's way. Louisiana made the Sooners earn the third.

Oklahoma trailed 10-5 before rallying to tie it at 15-15. The Ragin' Cajuns forced extra points after knotting the set at 25-25. Flack's kill put OU back in front, and a Louisiana attack error sealed the 27-25 finish.

In the second set, Tekoa Barnes broke open a tight stretch with three consecutive aces after Louisiana had pulled within 13-12, pushing the Sooners' lead to 17-12. Barnes finished with seven kills, a team-high eight digs and five aces. Kinsley Singleton, a transfer who averaged 3.65 digs per set at Nevada last season, added seven digs and three aces.

Elise Hani, who started the final 12 matches of the 2025 season at Washington, contributed seven kills and a team-best four blocks.

Opening-night sweep

Oklahoma opened the season Aug. 28 by sweeping Texas State 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-12) at Strahan Arena. Barnes and Flack each tallied 10 kills in that match, and the Sooners doubled the Bobcats' kill total 40-20, SEC Sports reported.

The Sooners return five players from a 2025 squad that went 16-11 overall and 7-9 in SEC play. Ten newcomers joined the program, including eight transfers. Two-thirds of the roster is new to Norman, but 13 of 15 players enter the season with previous collegiate experience.

Home opener Thursday

Oklahoma hosts Ohio State at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at McCasland Field House as part of the Big Ten/SEC Challenge. The Sooners follow that with a 2 p.m. match against Washington on Sept. 4. Admission to the Washington match is free for Fan Appreciation Day. Single-match tickets for the Ohio State game start at $10 plus tax.
