Norman's annual Veterans Day Parade and Memorial Ceremony returns to Reaves Park on Sunday, Nov. 8, with daytime fireworks, a 21-gun salute and a car show.

The city posted the event details on its website. The parade steps off at 2 p.m. along Jenkins Avenue, followed by the Memorial Ceremony at 3 p.m. at Reaves Park, 2501 S. Jenkins Ave. Admission is free.

This year's theme is "250: Beginnings of Freedom."

Free refreshments will be available alongside the car show and fireworks display. Road closures will occur in the area that afternoon, and the city advises drivers to use alternate routes.

Parade entries due Oct. 30

Groups and individuals who want to march in the parade must submit an application through the city's Veterans Day Parade Application by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. The city said no late entries will be accepted because of liability insurance requirements. Political entries are not accepted.

Residents with questions about the parade can call the city at 405-366-5472.
