Norman High defeated Piedmont 20-14 on Friday, Oct. 23.
The OU Daily reported the final score with game photos by Jack Ramon. OU Daily’s brief report did not include a scoring breakdown or individual statistics.
The victory comes during a season of transition for Norman High. The Tigers entered 2026 with a younger roster after graduation depleted the team’s experienced linemen. Coach Rocky Martin's team spent the preseason building new leadership and developing less experienced players along the offensive and defensive lines.
Senior lineman Oakley Caruthers, committed to play football at the Air Force Academy, emerged as a central figure during fall camp. Caruthers plays both sides of the ball and was tasked with helping younger linemen get up to speed after nearly half the starting line graduated.
"Obviously it starts with Oakley," Martin said in an August preseason interview with the Norman Transcript. "I think he's kind of the anchor on both sides."
Martin said during fall camp that rebuilding the line was a top priority. He told the Transcript the offensive line was performing well early in camp and that success would depend on play up front.
