Cleveland County residents who need to register or update their voter registration for the Nov. 3 election must do so by Friday, Oct. 9.

The deadline is firm. The Cleveland County Election Board requires applications to arrive at the board's office or be postmarked by midnight Friday. Applications postmarked after that date will be accepted but will not be processed until after the election, according to a Norman Transcript report citing a press release from the board.

The deadline also applies to voters who need to update an existing registration, such as a change of address, KGOU reported. Oklahoma law requires registration to close 25 days before a general election.

What's on the ballot

The Nov. 3 election includes the governor's race, a U.S. Senate seat, U.S. House contests and two statewide ballot measures, according to the Oklahoma State Election Board's official election list.

Republican Mike Mazzei and Democrat Cyndi Munson lead a five-candidate field for governor. The U.S. Senate race features Republican Kevin Hern and Democrat N'Kiyla Jasmine Thomas among five candidates.

State Question 845 would change how Oklahoma's Judicial Nominating Commission operates. State Question 847 would lower property tax assessment caps starting in 2027, cutting the homestead and agricultural cap from 3% to 1.75% and the cap on other properties from 5% to 4%, as Fox 23 reported.

How to register

Residents can register three ways before the Friday deadline:

  • In person at the Cleveland County Election Board, 641 E. Robinson, Norman. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Online through the OK Voter Portal with a valid Oklahoma driver's license or state ID.
  • By mail, postmarked by midnight Friday.

Submitting an application does not guarantee registration. The county election board secretary must approve each application before a voter is officially registered, according to Gaylord News.

Statewide numbers
