Community Christian School scored eight seconds into the Oct. 2 game and never let up, crushing the Alva Goldbugs 65-12 in Norman.

The win pushed the Royals to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in district play. CCS has outscored opponents 237-72 through five games, as reported by the Norman Transcript.

Running back Chris Razook set the tone with touchdown runs of 97 and 65 yards. Razook transferred back to CCS after spending his junior season at Norman North, and his return has given the Royals' offense a second dimension all season. Heading into the Alva game, CCS's ground attack had piled up 800 yards over its first four contests.

Sophomore quarterback Ben Jolley matched Razook's explosiveness through the air, throwing five touchdown passes. Three went to wide receiver Carson Rehkop.

The defense was just as dominant.

CCS held Alva to six points and stuffed the Goldbugs on seven of nine fourth-down attempts. Head coach Mat McIntosh said his only complaint at halftime was that the defense gave up too many yards early, but the unit tightened up and the fourth-down stops proved decisive.

"The very last game in the state of Oklahoma this year is the 2A state championship game. We want to be playing in it," McIntosh said after the win. He acknowledged the Royals aren't at that level yet but said the team's goal is to keep improving each week to get there.

The undefeated start is the program's best in years. CCS went 3-0 through non-district play for the first time in six seasons before rattling off two district wins.

CCS competes in Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) Class 2A-II District 1. The Royals travel to Millwood on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. for their next district test. After that, CCS hosts CHA on Thursday, Oct. 15, for homecoming and hosts Newkirk on Thursday, Oct. 22, for senior night.
