Edmond native Ryder Cowan picked up his second career SEC Golfer of the Week award Wednesday, Sept. 23, after a record-setting win at the Gopher Invitational in Minnesota.

The University of Oklahoma senior carded rounds of 72-63-65 at Windsong Farm Golf Club, finishing at 13-under 200, OU Athletics announced. He won by six shots. His 54-hole total broke the Gopher Invitational scoring record by two strokes, and his second-round 63 set another tournament record.

The victory was Cowan's third as a Sooner, moving him into fourth on Oklahoma's all-time wins list. His previous wins came at the 2025 Ka'anapali Classic and the 2026 Valspar Collegiate Invitational.

Cowan also climbed to No. 2 in the PGA Tour University rankings, which track the top college players eligible for professional status after graduation.

The senior has compiled 26 top-20 finishes, 17 top-10s and 11 top-fives across 41 career events for Oklahoma, according to OU Athletics. He earned All-SEC honors last season and was named a preseason All-American entering 2026-27.

Cowan competed on two national stages before the college season began. He earned low-amateur honors at the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, finishing tied for 23rd, and represented the United States at the Walker Cup at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland on Sept. 5-6, according to OU Athletics.

The Sooners opened the season tied for 10th at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Sept. 13-15, where Cowan finished fourth at even par. Head coach Jonathan Moore, in his first year leading the program after three seasons as associate head coach, saw a sharper squad at the Gopher Invitational the following week.

Cowan's conference honor was not the only SEC recognition for OU golf on Wednesday. Women's golfer Ryan Donaldson was named SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week the same day. The week before, sophomore Meg Tilma earned SEC Golfer of the Week after winning The Bruzzy. OU's men's and women's golf programs combined for three SEC weekly awards in two weeks.

Oklahoma heads to Fort Worth for the Ben Hogan Collegiate at Colonial Country Club on Monday, Sept. 28, through Tuesday, Sept. 29.
