Norman North quarterback Nash Henry threw for 319 yards and six touchdowns Friday, Sept. 18, leading the Timberwolves to a 49-21 homecoming win over Piedmont, The Oklahoman reported.
The victory pushed Norman North to 3-0. It is the program's best start since at least 2023.
It was the first football meeting between the two schools, according to the Norman North athletics website. The Timberwolves built a lopsided lead behind Henry's arm and a deep roster of returning playmakers.
Henry, a junior, threw for 3,222 yards with 29 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2025 and added roughly 30 pounds in the offseason, according to a Norman Transcript preseason profile. The added size has opened up designed quarterback runs in ninth-year head coach Justin Jones' offense.
Henry has been productive through three games. In the Aug. 28 season opener, Norman North beat Norman High 45-18 in the Crosstown Clash. The Timberwolves then defeated Sand Springs the following week to reach 2-0 for the first time since 2023.
Stanford-committed senior tight end Ben Kolar is one of Henry's top targets. Kolar caught 44 passes for 622 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. In a Sept. 18 OU Daily profile, Jones praised the 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior.
"Ben has had a fantastic career as he has matriculated through our program … Not only has he physically gotten bigger, faster and stronger, but he has also continued to increase his already high football IQ," Jones said in the OU Daily profile.
Senior running back Byron Mason gives the offense another dimension. Mason rushed for 827 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2025 and added 530 receiving yards and five more scores. On defense, senior safety Ethan Rash anchors the secondary after recording 159 tackles in 2025.
The Timberwolves went 5-6 last season but returned eight starters on each side of the ball, fueling preseason optimism, according to a Norman North athletics season preview.
After the season-opening win over Norman High, Jones said the offense was still developing its quarterback-run package. "I still don't think we're there yet, but we're close … We've just got to keep working at it and keep getting better at it," Jones said after the Aug. 28 game.
Norman North hosts Broken Arrow on Friday, Sept. 25. The upcoming schedule also includes trips to Edmond North on Oct. 2, Bixby on Oct. 15, Westmoore on Oct. 23 and Edmond Memorial on Nov. 5, with home dates against Southmoore on Oct. 8 and Mustang on Oct. 30.
