Kayla Keefer scored all three goals Thursday, Sept. 24, as No. 21 Oklahoma beat LSU 3-1 at John Crain Field. She became the first Sooner to record three hat tricks in a single season.

Keefer's 15th goal of the year also ties Whitney Palmer's 2009 single-season program record. She reached that mark in just 11 games.

The junior forward opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a left-footed strike from more than 30 yards out, hooking the ball inside the right post. Kate McCallister and Sterbenz were credited with assists on the play.

LSU answered quickly. Brielyn Knowles played a header forward off a goal kick, and Sariyah Bailey gathered the ball and scored in the 38th minute to level the match at 1-1.

The tie lasted two minutes.

Emily Davey was taken down inside the box, and Keefer converted the penalty kick in the 40th minute, tucking the ball underneath the crossbar for a 2-1 lead. She completed the hat trick in the 48th minute, leaping to head home a cross from McCallister. Ally Laccinole also earned an assist on the goal.

Bailey had a chance to pull LSU closer on a late penalty kick but hit the crossbar.

The Sooners improved to 9-0-2 overall and 3-0-0 in Southeastern Conference play, according to the team's game recap. All three of Oklahoma's SEC wins have come by the same 3-1 score. The three conference victories already match OU's SEC win total from all of last season.

Keefer leads the SEC with four goals in league play. The team's 40 goals through 11 games set a new program record, topping the 38 shared by the 2024 and 2025 squads.

Goalkeeper Callie Sullivan made four saves. McCallister finished with two assists, and Laccinole played all 90 minutes.

Keefer now has four career hat tricks, including one at Ole Miss as a freshman. Her first this season came Aug. 12 against Northwestern State, when she scored four goals in a 9-0 win. Her second came Aug. 23 in a 6-0 win over Colorado College.

A crowd of 2,231 watched the match, a total that ranks in the top five in program history. It was also OU's first-ever win against LSU.

Oklahoma hosts Alabama on Sunday, Sept. 27, with first kick set for noon on SEC Network.
