Cleveland County residents who want to vote in the Nov. 3 general election have until Friday, Oct. 9, to register or update their voter registration.

The Cleveland County Election Board announced the deadline in a press release, as reported by the Norman Transcript. Election Board Secretary Bryant Rains leads the office. In-person and online applications are due by 5 p.m. on Oct. 9. Mailed applications must be postmarked by midnight that day. The Oct. 9 deadline applies statewide, according to the Oklahoma Policy Institute.

The deadline also applies to voters who need to update their party affiliation or other registration details.

Applications postmarked after the Oct. 9 deadline will still be accepted but will not be processed until after the election, the Election Board said.

What's on the ballot

The Nov. 3 ballot carries two state questions, statewide races including governor, one U.S. Senate seat, all five Oklahoma congressional districts and retention votes for nine judges on the state Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeals, according to the Oklahoma Policy Institute's election guide.

State Question 845 would restructure the Judicial Nominating Commission by removing party-balancing requirements and lifting restrictions on attorneys serving as members, according to KGOU. State Question 847 would change assessment caps for property taxes.

Absentee ballot requests are due by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.

Early voting runs four days:

• Wednesday, Oct. 28, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 29, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 31, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

How to register

New voters can register online through the OK Voter Portal at okvoterportal.okelections.gov. A current Oklahoma driver's license or state ID is required for online registration.

Paper applications are available at the Cleveland County Election Board, tag agencies, post offices and public libraries. Voters who have moved within Cleveland County can update their address online through the portal or with a paper application.
